2021-2022 Contest Results

As always, our teams finished among the best in Illinois, Midwest Region, and Nationally in a number of contests. We had our best year ever this year. Thirty-six of our students were National Champions individually in various contests. Many students made various Honor Rolls and earned numerous other individual awards.

CML Team Results

6 of the 9 teams we had competing are 1st place National Champions

  • Grade 2 A-He Team is a National Champion.
  • Grade 2 Ho-Z Team is a National Champion.
  • Grade 3 A-I Team is a National Champion.
  • Grade 3 J-Z Team took 2nd Place Regionally (because our other 3rd grade team is regional champion) and took 5th Place Nationally.
  • Grade 4 A-I Team is a National Champion.
  • Grade 4 J-M Team is a National Champion.
  • Grade 4 N-Z Team is a National Champion.
  • Grade 5 A-H Team took 4th Place Regionally and took 17th Place Nationally.
  • Grade 5 I-Z Team is a Midwest Regional Champion and took 5th Place Nationally.

MOEMS Division E (Grades 4-6) Team Results

  • Team A1 (Level 4+, A-G) scored 51 points above the Highest Team Achievement Award threshold.
  • Team A2 (Level 4+, H-Z) scored 56 points above the Highest Team Achievement Award threshold.
  • Team B1 (Level 3, Grade 5) scored 30 points above the Highest Team Achievement Award threshold.
  • Team B2 (Level 1-3, Grade 2-4, A-K) scored 24 points above the Highest Team Achievement Award threshold.
  • Team B3 (Level 1-3, Grades 2-4, L-Z) scored 35 points above the Highest Team Achievement Award threshold.

MOEMS Division M (Grades 6-8) Team Results

  • Team A (Grade 7) scored 6 points above the High Team Achievement Award threshold.
  • Team B1 (Grade 4-6, G-Z) scored 18 points above the Highest Team Achievement Award threshold.
  • Team B2 (Grade 4-6, A-F) scored 11 points above the High Team Achievement Award threshold.

Math League Team Results

  • Grade 4 Team A (Level 0-1, A-H) scored 129 out of 150 points: 5th Place Nationally.
  • Grade 4 Team B (Level 0-1, I-Z) scored 119 points: 11th Place Nationally.
  • Grade 4 Team C (Level 2-3, A-K) scored 138 points: 2nd Place Nationally (because our other team is the champion).
  • Grade 4 Team D (Level 2-3, L-Z) scored 143 points: National Champions.
  • Grade 5 Team A (A-H) scored 137 points: 4th Place Nationally.
  • Grade 5 Team B (I-Z) scored 140 points: 2nd Place Nationally.
  • Algebra 1 Team A (Level 4) scored 135 points: 10th Place Nationally.
  • Algebra 1 Team B (Level 5) scored 139 points” 6th Place Nationally.

Individual Results

  • Thirteen students are National Champions in Math Kangaroo (we had 6 in 2021)
    • 84 students ranked in the Top 20 (we had 47 in 2021)
    • 45 in the Top 10 (we had 23 in 2021)
    • 30 in the Top 5 (we had 12 in 2021)
  • Twenty-three students are National Champions in CML.
  • Nationally, only 29 students in the Grade 4 CML contest earned perfect scores. Twelve of these perfect scores were our students.
  • Nationally, only 13 students in the Grade 5 CML contest earned perfect scores, and one of them was our student.
  • Four students earned George Lenchner Medal in MOEMS, 42 students earned Gold Pin and 91 students earned Silver Pin.
  • One student, Samuel H, won the George Lenchner Medal in MOEMS for the second time!!
  • Five students are National Champions in Math League contest.
  • Eight students made Honor Roll in AMC-8, and 20 students made Achievement Roll. Among only 66 in Illinois, 15 are in our program.

Learning and practicing analytical reasoning skills goes a long way towards the success in math contests. Even more importantly, when people do what they love, they usually do it quite well. And so, our students are very good when it comes to math competitions. In 2021-2022, our teams finished among the best in Illinois, Midwest Region, and Nationally in a number of contests.

Thirteen of our students were Math Kangaroo National Champions; Twenty-three students were National Champions in the CML contests; four students earned George Lenchner Medals and Fourty-two students earned Gold Pins in MOEMS contests; eight students made Honor Roll and twenty made Achievement Roll in the AMC-8 contest; many students made various other Honor Rolls and earned other individual awards.
