MOEMS-M Meet 2 Results

11 students earn perfect scores; 13 students score 4 out of 5!

In December, our students competed in the second meet of the MOEMS Division M contest with great success. This year we fielded two teams. Students are placed on a team based on the first letter of their first name, so that the teams are roughly the same in strength.

Usually, the expected score after two meets for the teams on target for the top team award is about 80-84 points out of 100 possible maximum. After two meets, the team standings are as follows:

  • Team A-Ja scored 88 points.
  • Team Jo-Z scored 95 points.

Both of our teams are on track for top team awards in their age groups!

Individually, students averaged 3.05 out of 5, compared to 1.23 national average! That low of a national average means that this was an incredibly challenging contest. Our students in Grade 5 and younger did exceptionally well, scoring over 3.26 points above the national average!! Here are the averages by grade on our team compared with the national averages (the difference is shown in parenthesis):

  • Grade <= 5: 3.82 vs 0.57 (+3.26)
  • Grade 6: 2.55 vs 1.03 (+1.52)
  • Grade 7: 3.13 vs 1.21 (+1.92)

All of our students who earned perfect scores in this meet also earned perfect scores in the last meet, which is phenomenal! These students are Charlotte O, Isaac C-O, (James B), (James L-C) [on a school team], (James S), John P, (John X), Leo S, (Rich L), (Zimo L), and (Ziqi Z).

All students in parentheses are in 5th grade or younger, which is amazing!!
