Students typically get 30-60 minutes of weekly mandatory homework. Elective homework worksheets are available to students who want to improve their skills. We encourage students to do as many elective worksheets as they can through a system of incentives and awards. We also encourage students to go back and try again the problems that they got wrong the first time around, and we provide hints to help them solve those problems. Homework is tracked and available to download via online portal.

We expect kids to “fight” each problem in their homework. But, they are not expected to solve all homework problems and they will make mistakes. We want it this way!!!

Parents often ask what can they do to make their kids most successful in our program. While each child is unique, below is the list of Do’s and Don’ts! Please, read the Don’ts – they are extremely important!

  • Encourage your child to work a little over several days; your child should not leave the homework for the last day.
  • Teach your child to not rush, to use scratch paper, and be neat and organized.
  • Teach your child to always check their work.
  • Teach your child to not give up.
  • Make sure your child doesn’t get frustrated!!!
  • Encourage your child for every little success!!!

  • Help your child review the handouts – review them together if you want and have time. Ask your child to explain to you what the learned.
  • Help your child review problem solutions. Ask your child to explain the solution to you. Ask your child if they used a different strategy when they solved the problem.

  • Help your child solve the homework problems.
  • Check your child’s work and point out mistakes.
  • Hire a tutor to help your child with the program.
  • Set unrealistic expectations.
