Winning is not about finishing first but about never ending quest to improve.
The focus of our program is on improvement. We start with tryouts and baseline tests at the beginning of the year, and then measure the results of each child against those scores. The contests thus provide a measuring stick against which each child can track their progress. We are far more proud of the improvements made by all our students than by individual medals and awards they win in contests. Not everyone can finish first, but every student can get better!
Below are some measures of our students’ improvement in 2016-2017.
- Thirteen of our students participated in AMC-8 contest both in 2016 and 2017. Twelve of them improved their scores. The average improvement was 4.6 points out of 25. An improvement of 4 points from year to year is considered to be a great result. Ten of our students improved their scores by 4 points or more!
- Twenty four students participated in MOEMS Division E contest both in 2016 and 2017. Twenty of them improved their scores. The average improvement was 3.5 points out of 25.
- Seventeen students participated in Math League contest both in 2016 and 2017. Fifteen of them improved their scores. The average improvement was 4.5 points out of 30.
The process of individual improvement is not a sprint, but a marathon. If you keep improving, year after year, you are guaranteed to become very good at what you do! We are thrilled to watch our students grow.
