Arkady Maydanchik, “Mr. Math,” is a recognized mathematician and educator.
Mr. Maydanchik graduated from high school at the age of 15, having won numerous math contests during his school years. He has been passionate about children’s education since he was a teenager. As a college student, Mr. Maydanchik volunteered as an assistant to his own high school math teacher and simultaneously taught his own proprietary after-school math program for middle-school kids. Over the years, he taught a number of math programs and sharpened his methods for teaching the mysteries of math and analytical reasoning techniques to young children. It is during those years that the kids gave Mr. Maydanchik an honorary title “Mr. Math” and so the Adventures with Mr. Math were born. Since 2013, Mr. Maydanchik has dedicated most of his time to teaching math to kids. His objective is to grow Adventures with Mr. Math to bring joy of math discovery to millions of kids around the world.
Mr. Maydanchik also does some private coaching in his free time, helping exceptional young students achieve success in advanced math competitions. In 2024, all of his students scored 7+ on AIME, 3 out of 4 eligible students made MathCounts Nationals, and both of his high-school freshmen students qualified for USAJMO.
Mr. Maydanchik is a proud father of two very talented children. His older son, Max, is an economics graduate student at the University of Chicago, having previously worked for 2 years as a Research Assistant at the Harvard University. His younger son, Nate, is a high school senior who achieved great success in math competitions (Illinois State MathCounts winner and 12th place finisher in the 2021 National MathCounts, 5-time AIME qualifier, USAJMO qualifier as a freshman, etc), and then switched to research during his sophomore year and already co-authored his first paper in biostatistics published in AJHG.
Mr. Maydanchik started his career in academic research and, by the age of 20, he co-authored three books and numerous articles in the fields of mathematical statistics and cluster analysis. His mathematical models were used in various fields, ranging from construction of earthquake resistant buildings to early diagnostics for kids with immune system deficiencies and to financial modeling. In 1990’s, Mr. Maydanchik pioneered a data quality management methodology used by hundreds of organizations around the world. He is the author of Data Quality Assessment book and numerous articles, and has been a frequent speaker at various industry conferences. Mr. Maydanchik is a co-founder of eLearningCurve (www.elearningcurve.com), an online university for information management professionals, with thousands of students from 80+ countries.
